Wim Wenders und Juliano Ribeiro Salgado's portrait of the Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado.
Das Salz der Erde
Germ.vers. partly Germ. subtitled
The Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado has been documenting the constant transformation of the world and human activity across the globe for 40 years. He has witnessed significant events including international conflicts, wars and their consequences, famine, ethnic cleansing and various other forms of suffering. His compelling photographic features have shaped our perception of the world. The task would likely have crushed Salgado had he not embarked on his gigantic new Genesis project. Almost half of the planet remains untouched by humankind, and Salgado and his camera have been visiting these paradisical locations for the best part of a decade, tracing the origins of life and creating a breath-taking tribute to the beauty of our planet.
